The
Introduction to Linux Tour - a TTP Event
At
a recent meeting of the Novell Technology Transfer Partners (TTP)
it became apparent that there is a need to run some introductory
Linux events for those people within academic institutions who are
planning to make the move to Linux. A two-day workshop has now been
developed by Drew Weidman from Weber State University and James
Johnatakis from Emmett (Idaho) School District. People attending
are asked to bring their own laptop computer so that they can take
part in hands-on exercises that will form part of the workshop.
The laptop should have sufficient memory (2GB) and free hard drive
space (20GB) to run VMWare virtual machines. The workshop has been
designed for people with computing knowledge but with little or
no previous experience with Linux administration. All examples will
relate to an academic environment and be especially applicable to
K-12. This workshop can be considered an introduction to Linux which
will give people the confidence to undertake certified training
paths. Full details of Novell training routes and options will be
explained during the event.
